Great Leaders create great leaders
- Cause a person/or animal to go with one by holding them by the hand, a halter, a rope etc while moving forward
- To guide on a way especially by going in advance
- To direction a course or in a direction
IT was Zig Zagler who said “ You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” I truly believe that we were all created to be great in the different gifts and talents we have been blessed with. We just have to start. We were created to excel where we have been placed, to be the best that we can be, we were not created to be average, mediocre and to just do ok.
We were created to be great people.
Great people are great leaders, and great leaders produce more great leaders. Part of being great is being able to create others who are great. You cannot just strive to be great alone then die. It doesn’t matter where God has placed you, you can be great exactly where you happen to be right now in your life. The best part is that you can help someone else become great too. You might be saying, ‘but Melo, I’m just a student, or I’m just a nurse, or I’m just a teacher and I’m still trying to figure out how to be great myself, how on earth can I help others become great?’
Being great is being the best at what you do, it’s striving to be better and excellent right where you are. When kids say, my dad is great, they mean he’s the ebst dad and they wouldn’t ask for any other dad even if they had a choice. Can your colleagues, friends, boss, kids, husband or wife say the same about you? Are you irreplaceable? And if so, are you teaching others, those around you on how they too can better, work harder or smarter?
The good news is that it’s never too late to change. Remember, you can only pass on greatness if you are striving for greatness. If you haven’t been striving for excellence in everything you do, then you can start today. Wash those dishes like you’re in a restaurant and the manager is coming in to inspect them, mow that lawn as though you were in a mowing contest, teach those kids in that classroom like there’s no tomorrow, write that song as though you were writing it for Beyonce. When you’re done being great, lead those around you to greatness! Dr Myles Munroe said in his teachings that a leader ensures that when he dies then what he has started will continue without him. He says I quote: “The greatest act of leadership is mentoring. No matter how much you may learn, achieve, accumulate, or accomplish, if it all dies with you, then you are a generational failure.”
May all that you learn not die with you, may you mentor, lead, share and plant seeds of greatness all around you so that when you die those seeds continue to grow without you.
