Importance of consistency.
I strongly believe that to be consistent means to fully dedicate oneself completely to a task, activity or goal and it also means to fully stay engaged without distraction.
Consistency requires a commitment on one’s part, it requires that one commit themselves to a sustained effort of action over the long-term until the moment their objectives are achieved. Frankly speaking, over the years I haven’t been consistent in my life and I have seen the repercussions of inconsistency. I am working on myself because I have realized that inconsistency has negative results.
I believe that the following key points will help you and I realize the importance of consistency:
- Realize that consistency is all about ones’ ability to be dependable, reliable and responsible for all their choices, decisions and actions. As a born-again Christian, I am of the opinion that Hebrews 13:8 clearly teaches us that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. This speaks of consistency which we can all imitate in our day to day lives.
- Consistency is about building small empowering habits and rituals that one partakes in every single day that keep them focused on their highest priorities and goals. This comes down to one’s ability to hold themselves accountable for the daily choices they make with no excuses and no complaints. In 1 Corinthians 15:58 also teaches us that we ought to be steadfast and immovable meaning that all responsibility lies solely in one’s hands.
- Consistency is therefore all about repetition. It’s about repeating the same actions over and over again, gaining feedback from these actions and adjusting them accordingly to help one stay on track as they work towards their goals. As we begin 2020, may we all remember that the difference between success and failure entirely depends on ones’ consistency.
In conclusion in the words of Anthony Robbins “it’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. It’s what we do consistently”
