The importance of gaining wisdom
The word wisdom is defined as “the quality of having knowledge, experience and good judgment”
Albert Einstein said, “Wisdom is not a product of schooling but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it.” This is the reason why many times individuals who are older or seasoned have wisdom. However, this does not mean a younger person can’t gain or have wisdom.
There are many benefits that comes from gaining wisdom such as:-
- Strong character
I believe having a strong character should be the foundation of all leader’s lives. This starts when you know whose you are and what has been deposited in you by God. Strong character produces wisdom which leads to the ability to positively impact others.
This is because most wise leaders have been through many different experiences and have maintained their integrity through it. I also believe if you are intentional in maintaining your character and growing in wisdom then you will be unstoppable.
- Good judgment
Wisdom like, good judgment, comes with experience. A leader who has wisdom can better handle the challenges that a rise from leading. This is because good judgment comes to those who are wise. When one have good judgment they will always be solving problems, seeing better results and moving forward.
3.Grows one’s influence
One’s wisdom will increase their ability to influence others. This is because who you are and what you do attracts like minded people. Those who have wisdom, talent and a good track record will want to follow you because of your wisdom.
It’s like the old saying, “birds of the same feathers stick together.” I’m of the opinion that when you grow and have wisdom it will increase your reach and influence.
- It brings honor
Wisdom brings honor within your personal and professional life and with time this honor will lead to a lasting legacy. When you grow in wisdom then your honor among others starts to rise. This is because your life is an example of someone worth following.
In conclusion, the word of God in Proverbs 24 :3 teaches us that “Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established” therefore I believe that it is important for every leader to gain wisdom.
