Keys to building a personal brand

If you’re looking to build a personal brand for yourself, then you need to get one thing straight from the get go. Who you are speaks louder than what you do. I believe people are created in the image of God as mentioned in Genesis 1:27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female he created them

We have to realize that a personal brand enables one to give what they do more colour, depth, and expression. Below are a few keys one need in order to build a memorable and meaningful brand:

Consistency

I’m a firm believer that what speaks volumes when it comes to one’s brand is consistency. Consistency is how one discovers their voice, style and habits. Consistency is also how one refine themselves, how one grows and what teaches one who they really are.

Without consistency, there is no personal branding that is a success. I have learnt that building a brand is not about writing one blog post and then sitting back rather it is a lifestyle. It’s a commitment and promise to oneself that as you travel your own path through life, you will take the time to share your lessons and knowledge with others at the same time.

Network

Who we associate with and with whom we spend our time says more about us than we realize. A big part of building a brand is also who we collaborate with, share with and inherently work with.

Remember, the word of God says in 1 Corinthians 15:33 Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good character”.  We are a product of the 5 people we spend the most time with in our lives therefore for no other reason we have to ensure our own positive self development by keeping a close eye on who we spend and give our time to.

Habits

I am of the opinion that we ought to think about building our brands around our habits. Our habits are what build us as people and they are also what build a meaningful brand therefore it is important to ask ourselves a few questions such as: –

What do we do every day?

How do we approach our work?

How do we overcome obstacles?

What inspires us to keep moving forward?

Your Word
Realize that what makes a brand so unique is that it is based upon you as a person, which means that whatever you say, you have to stand behind. You have to believe it and follow through with it.

If you say you’re going to do something do it. If you promise something, keep that promise because it is all about maintaining honesty, integrity, and loyalty. Keep your word, no matter what.

In conclusion building a personal brand evolves around consistency, a strong and genuine network and habits that show the world whose and who we really are.
