I am preparing for the 2017 Soweto Marathon > #AyeyeSowetoMarathon.

It's a Tuesday morning and I have planned to go for a run. My dad sends me to our neighbors to sort out our electricity and as soon as I step outside the house, I feel the cold. It is very cold.....

I step back in the house and now I need to make a decision. Do I go back to bed or do I put on my running gear and go for the planned run? I don't feel like running, all I want to do is be warm. Decision time.....

I have learnt that in order to be successful, I have to make decisions based on my values rather than my feelings. One of my values is Integrity and that means doing what I said I will do when I said I would do it. I made the decision based on one of my values,  which is Integrity. I ran the same route as the one on Sunday and I smashed my previous time by over 5 minutes.I could have made a decision to postpone the run to tomorrow but what happens if it starts raining tomorrow.Christopher Barker said," Procrastination is like a credit card, it's a whole lot of fun till you get your bill..."

If you always make decisions based on how you feel, your goals will remain just that..goals.

If you are only going to do what you have to do when circumstances are favorable, you will hardly get anything done. It was Jerry Rice who said, "Today I will do what others won't do so tomorrow I can accomplish what others can't...."

When you don't feel like doing what you have to do, think about how far you have come

When you don't feel like doing what you have to do, get your eyes back on the prize

When you don't feel like doing what you have to do, make a decision based on your values....

Values over feelings......
